As a nutrient, phosphorus promotes early emergence and root development while optimizing tuber initiation and growth. The more vigorous the plant, the greater the yield potential. Phosphorus availability is therefore crucial.
Agro-100 conducted a 10-year longitudinal trial on foliar phosphorus application in potato production in the Lanaudière region.
The findings show that over the 10 years of the trial, potato yields were significantly influenced by foliar phosphorus application.
Phosphorus uptake through the foliage ensures that the nutrient is used efficiently and is guaranteed to be available to the plant.
We observed an average additional yield of 11%, along with greater uniformity and a higher number of tubers measuring 2.25 in and larger.
The table presented in the bulletin summarizes the trials conducted between 1997 and 2026 with Agro-Phos 0-29-5 + 4% Mg.

The trials were conducted with 23 potato growers. The economic data presented in this table are based on a crop price of $10.00/cwt.
In the trials, three applications of Agro-Phos were made at a rate of 5 L/ha in 100 L of water, at 10- to 14-day intervals.
The first application, at tuber initiation (about 35 days after emergence), will greatly help plant growth.
The three applications were made to ensure an adequate phosphorus reserve throughout the season and, in turn, help improve yields.
Agro-Phos is compatible with most fungicides registered for use in potatoes.
