It plays an important role in transferring sugars and nutrients within the plant, increases pollination and helps move carbohydrates to the grain.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0292803 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"0292803\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-divider-separator\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff07139 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ff07139\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Boron application timing: a major challenge<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-940fd89 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"940fd89\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Boron application timing can be the biggest challenge. Boron is water soluble and extremely mobile in the soil, so it is prone to leaching under wet conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Because it moves into the plant through mass flow with water, it becomes unavailable to the plant under dry conditions, as transpiration slows.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, boron mobility within the plant is extremely limited, so getting boron to the right place at the right time can be difficult.<\/p>\n<p>Research by Heard, Manitoba Agriculture, on boron uptake in corn has shown that more than two thirds of uptake occurs from R1 onward, which makes the UAN application timing ideal for adding boron.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-12ade7f elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"12ade7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-divider\">\n\t\t\t<span <a href=\"\/en\/products\/nitro-b\/\">Nitro-B<\/a> as a 10% liquid boron source to be tank mixed with UAN for sidedress applications.<\/p>\n<p>Nitro-B mixes completely with UAN and allows a uniform application of nitrogen and boron across the entire field in a single pass.<\/p>\n<p>By adding boron at this time, boron uptake can be maximized while reducing the potential for nutrient loss in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Since boron and nitrogen both follow the water lost through evaporation, adding them together at sidedress timing, at the growth stage when uptake demand begins to peak, places boron in the right place, at the right time and in a readily available form for the crop to absorb quickly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bef98ed elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bef98ed\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nine on-farm field trials since 2019 have shown a consistent yield increase from adding <a href=\"\/en\/products\/nitro-b\/\">Nitro-B<\/a> to UAN.<\/p>\n<p>Whether injected or surface applied, adding Nitro-B resulted in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an average yield increase of 621&nbsp;kg\/ha;<\/li>\n<li>a 100% winning percentage in all nine trials;<\/li>\n<li>a 10:1 return on investment;<\/li>\n<li>with an application of 2.5&nbsp;L\/ha of Nitro-B during the sidedress application of UAN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c12d22f elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget elementor-widget-divider\" data-id=\"c12d22f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"divider.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div
